GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
ISO 39001 specifies requirements for an effective Road Traffic Safety Management System.
The organization shall determine:
- the interested parties that are relevant to the RTS management system;
- the requirements of these interested parties;
- The legal and other requirements related to RTS to which the organization subscribes.
- emphasis on the context of the organization
- risk-based thinking throughout towards achieving ambitious road safety results through the Safe System goal and approach
- integration of the RTS management into overall business strategy
- requires top management involvement and accountability
DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
The RTS documentation shall include:
- The scope and boundaries of the RTS;
- The road safety policy;
- RTS objective can be strategic, tactical, or operational.
- Documents & records required by ISO 39001.
The amount of documentation can vary for different organizations for the following reasons:
- Scale & Size of the organization
- Type of activities;
- Processes and their interactions; and
- Competence of personnel
